Nature Appreciation & Environmental Awareness

Nature is so vastly important, no matter where we live, it is scattered throughout our rural and urban landscapes. Nature is not to be seen only in a park or in the “bush”. We chose our business name “Green Equipment” because of our passion for nature. Our love for nature was anchored by our childhood experiences of being outdoors and enjoying numerous visits to the country areas and coast. Spending time in nature has positive effects on our ability to concentrate, learn, solve problems and be creative.

Caring for it is absolutely essential for future generations to enjoy. We are outdoor enthusiasts who have taken small lifestyle steps to be kinder to the planet. We are always in awe of a waterfall or sighting the howler monkeys in Macqueripe and are committed to doing our part to protect it.

Let’s teach our children about unplugging devices when not in use and the effect of leaving on lights in the home. These activities increase the heat in the environment, and ultimately global warming.

You don’t have to live on a farm or in the country to have a compost pile. Composting means recycling nutrients from our food waste back into the ecosystem to enrich the soil and keep food out of landfills. We compost fruit and vegetable waste, coffee grounds, tea bags, eggshells and even egg crates.
Let’s use cloth bags or recyclable bags to do our grocery and market shopping. We don’t need to bag each vegetable and fruit individually in plastic bags. These have three times the greenhouse gas impact of reusable bags.

There are also tons of DIY projects out there for making your own cleaning products. We use vinegar and baking soda on almost everything and this also helps reduce our packaging waste. In dry season, we collect used dishwater to water our plants and store rainwater in covered bins.

We must recognise that our natural world is continuously changing and there are many ways we can work together to care for it, now and into the future. It’s easy to believe one person’s efforts don’t matter, but if we all make some small changes, we can collectively make a huge difference.

Enjoy Nature, Embrace and Protect its Naturalness!!
